About

NAVAL UX Mission

To optimize products and systems in the hands of the warfighters by incorporating UX into our engineering lifecycles.

UX ensures products and systems are designed around the users' strengths & weaknesses, their environments, and missions. Our customers don't have the luxury to select the best from many options like we do in our daily lives. They must trust their success and even their lives on what we provide them. Therefore, it is our duty to design the best, the first time around. UX provides the rigorous design process to make this happen.

The Naval UX Forum, started out as Naval UX Day, a virtual half day event created by the UCD SMEs at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) and championed by Executive Leadership. It began during the pandemic and focused on government and military employees. Thanks to our current partnership with AFCEA, we are now including industry and academia which will enable a greater scope of discussion, learning, and sharing - providing excellent opportunities for exponential progress towards our mission.

(Note: We understand the differences between Human Machine Interface (HMI), Human Systems Integration (HSI), Human Factors Engineering (HFE), Human Centered Design (HCD), User-Centered Design (UCD), and User Experience (UX), but for the ease of advertisement and forms, "UX " will be used to cover all of these fields and methods of expertise.)
